Serving as the GSA's national model for innovative and sustainable building reuse, the project includes major new infill construction within the existing courtyards. The new infills contain high performance office and special function space, increasing building efficiency and improving circulation.  As the GSA’s pilot Smart Building initiative, all building elements with a control function share a fully integrated backbone to optimize information sharing and building efficiency. Innovative use of electronically tintable dynamic glass in the building atrium enhances energy efficiency and occupant comfort. Awarded under the GSA's noted Design Excellence program, the project is designed to achieve a LEED Gold certification.
