1270 4th Street, NE

As one of the first significant sites to be redeveloped in the emerging Union Market neighborhood, 1270 4^th Street, NE is extremely important as it will set the tone for the character of the district. 

The building sits on a parcel between the original historic buildings to the east and the future redevelopment to its’ west. Thus, its massing mediates this scale transition by dividing up the program into four smaller volumes that sit on a one-story, street-oriented base. This composition merges existing building fabric with a contemporary building in an architectural dialogue of old and new.
