Hilton Garden Inn West End
Washington, DC
Today's travelers increasingly demand a sophisticated hotel experience with a dynamic urban flavor. This infill project on a challenging L-shaped site was conceived as such an urban prototype for a national hotel chain.
In a novel response to stringent public space zoning requirements, the main lobby and adjacent ground level restaurant/lounge open directly to the exterior via operable glass walls, affording high visibility and open public access. An open garden terrace at the second floor, reached by a grand stair, creates an enjoyable setting for guests and public alike. The hotel program includes boutique-style guest rooms, a 2,450 sf sub-divisible meeting room, swimming pool, fitness center, and below-grade parking. Principal street facades are articulated to reflect the unique character of each street in a common language of terracotta rainscreen and glazing.
