WestEnd 25 Residences
Washington, DC
In the West End neighborhood directly facing Rock Creek Park and the Georgetown historic district, 2 underutilized 1960’s-era office buildings were dramatically reconfigured to house a signature residential development.
A combination of surgical demolition and expansion of the existing concrete structures was undertaken, including the addition of four stories on top of both existing towers, and the enlargement of a connector link to the full new building height of 110 feet. The resulting U-shaped building encloses a light-filled, landscaped courtyard with new glass and steel walls, angled to maximize views of the park across the street. Transparent glazing at the building entry affords views through to a bamboo-lined rear garden. Features of this LEED Gold certified project include a communal rooftop area with landscaping, pool deck, and lounge with kitchen.
